FAQs

  • How should I prepare for my Acupuncture treatment

There is nothing specific you need to do before treatment but recommend you eat and drink before treatment.

  • Is Acupuncture safe?

Yes, as long as you get treated by a qualified acupuncturist it is not only safe, but is proven to give fantastic results.

When looking for an acupuncturist ensure they are with a regulated body (i.e British Acupuncture Association, British Acupuncture Council), and dont be afraid to ask for the qualification of the practitioner.

  • Does Acupuncture hurt?

No, acupuncture needles are hair thin needles and should not be confused with hypodermic needles. You may feel a sensation when the needle hits the point but this is not a painful feeling, you will experience a relaxing feeling and some clients even fall asleep.

  • Are there any side effects?

No, on very rare occasions you may experience slight bruising however this is just where the needle has entered the skin, it is not painful. The great benefit of acupuncture is that it is completely natural so you will not experience any adverse side effects.

  • Where in my body do you put the needles?

It depends on the condition being treated.

Needles are placed in specific acupuncture points that run in channels that go from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet.

  • Can I have Acupuncture if I'm pregnant?

Yes, acupuncture is safe in pregnancy and can even help alliviate side effects of pregnancy and postnatal conditions. However as there are some acupunture points that cannot be used in pregnancy it is important that you inform the practitioner before treatment if you are pregnant.

  • What should I expect from my initial consultation

During your initial consultation, we will take a complete health history. It will be a conversation to help to get to know you better and help to know how best to help you. This will help me establish a complete evaluation of the condition for which you are seeking treatment, the consultation will include questions about your lifestyle as well as questions for the condition you are seeking treatment. The consultation will also include taking your pulse, observing your tongue and may palpate specific meridians to look for tender areas. The initial treatment may last between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.

  • What if want to change my appointment date?

We require 48 hours notice for any appointment cancellations, please read our terms and conditions for more information

  • What if I'm running late for my appointment time

You must inform your practitioner if you are running late, any arrivals after 15 minutes of the start of your appointment time will be cancelled and will be charged.
